Tatsuya — At the Kitada home, Yoshimi receives an envelope of papers relating to the Saekis. The two Ju-on: Curses have a challenging, disjointed storyline that follow seemingly unconnected characters. Incidentally the original Ju-on house, that was used for filming, is in the suburbs of Tokyo in the huge Saitama prefecture, though the producers remain protective of its actual location. In keeping with the tight budget, actual locations were used instead of movie studios. My favourite being the unfortunate Kanna, who recently got the unusual role of the snake-necked Rokuro-kubi spirit in! Meanwhile, detective Yoshikawa and his aide, Kamio, investigates a mutilated body of a high school girl, Hisayo Yoshida, who is one of the two students scheduled to feed the school rabbits, and an unrelated human jaw nearby. Does that raise another eyebrow with respect to a strange division of runtime between the six shorts? While Toshio, his dad Saeko, and mum Kayako are at the centre of the hauntings. He also killed his son, , and the family cat, Mar, before deserting his house.
Kyoko researches the Murakami family tragedy and learns about the Saeki family as well. Already, a few minutes in, I was starting to get uneasy and creeped out. Kobayashi, who happens to be Toshio's elementary school teacher, visits the Saeki house concerning Toshio's repeated absence from school, leaving his pregnant wife, Manami, in their apartment. The rest of the cast is very strong. The repeated scenes make the film understandable as a stand-alone, but cheats viewers who have already seen the first film. If it tastes foul to them, then they are more susceptible to the vengeful curse. They are hard to get hold of with English subtitles and hard to locate because of the other similarly-named sequels.
Nobuyuki — Two Kayako ghosts crawl after Nobuyuki at his school. But the actors playing his Mum and Dad, Takako Fuji and Takashi Matsuyama , are now the only actors to have appeared in every single version. Shunsuke and Takeo do it in the first segment. Meanwhile, Takeo walks limply while carrying the dead fetus and is killed in the street by Kayako who resurfaces from a dumpster nearby. Tatsuya contacts his spiritually-aware sister, Kyoko, to visit the house. But they are consistantly scarier. Famously, Chiaki Kuriyama appears in the very first Ju-on film, in the same year she jogged and stabbed in Battle Royale.
In shock, he is unable to act properly as Kayako's corpse suddenly moves and kills him. Kyoko leaves the file for her brother at his realty office. Kyoko walks past the house on the way and sees Yoshimi Kitada, the wife of the new owner, in a seeming state of possession through the window. Tatsuya visits Yoshimi Kitada only to discover that Kayako possesses her. They have an excellent cast, great sound design, and a marvellous plot structure, where every single scene is filled with relevant details that help you fit the jigsaw of scenes together. These are the same cops seen for three minutes in the first film, with their inclusion here feeling just as random and being just as forgettable. She makes a hasty escape from the house, leaving her brother behind.
Kyoko — Realtor Tatsuya Suzuki has his psychic sister Kyoko inspect the Saeki house, as the Murakami murders have made it unmarketable. Elsewhere, Takeo stumbles from a payphone while covered in blood. Mainly because they function as a singular entity. Kyoko does it in the second. The teacher's story continues to unfold in the two Ju-on: Curse films.
Both of them collapse on the floor. We also have to work out whether we are looking at events earlier or later in time. The teacher is played by Yurei Yanagi a casting homage to Ring , the second householder is the hauntingly beautiful Kaori Fujii who later appeared in and even the teenagers are good. The curse continues to spread outside of the city. Her psychic insight tells her that because evil spirits can corrupt sake, prospective buyers must drink from a bottle left inside the house. The anger and sorrow surrounding the murder created a curse that turned its inhabitants into. I'll treat them together, because they were both made on video, but still released in Japanese cinemas as 'V-Cinema' films in 2000.
Kayako then attacks Kamio at the police station. An unknown amount of time later, the Saeki house is occupied by the Murakami family. The teacher Kobayashi and his family are the catalyst of the curse. Some time later, the Nerima house is taken over by the Suzuki Real Estate, owned by Tatsuya Suzuki, for sale. The suggestion of where the curse could be headed next is unsettling and alarmingly fatalistic. Nobuyuki and Kyoko remain possessed. The two girls drink from a sake bottle and discover it tastes foul as the distinctive croaks of Kayako and Toshio are heard.
. A while later, Kyoko is informed that the house has been sold to the Kitada couple. We also see the police investigations flounder, due to mental breakdowns and further disappearences. Takeo kicks a bag containing the fetus ripped from Manami Kobayashi into a pile of trash on the street. Illustrator murdered his wife, , after discovering from her journal that she had held a deep crush with her college friend, Shunsuke Kobayashi. Back at the Murakami house, mother Noriko has just returned home from shopping when she notices a seemingly beaten up Kanna entering her house. She immediately feels discomfort upon entering the house, and becomes further disturbed after a brief meeting with Kayako.
